Welcome to Cara's Ear Care
About Me
Hello, I’m Cara.
Professional Ear Care Specialist & Founder of Cara's Ear Care
I qualified as a nurse in 2007, beginning my career on a fast-paced Cardiac Ward before spending eight rewarding years as a Community Nurse. In 2015, I transitioned into general practice, ultimately rising to the role of Lead Practice Nurse at a local GP surgery.
Throughout my career, dedicated ear care has been a core part of my role. While I initially utilised the traditional irrigation method, I advanced my skills in November 2021 by completing specialist Microsuction training at University Hospital Sussex NHS Trust, in association with the British Academy of Audiology. Following this, I successfully ran regular NHS microsuction clinics across multiple GP surgeries.
The Evolution of My Practice
In December 2022, I launched my mobile private service. Having been a Community Nurse, I knew firsthand that housebound individuals were being left without vital ear care as standard community nursing services changed. I stepped in to fill that gap, originally operating under a franchise name.
Following the closure of that franchise, I chose to take the next step in my professional journey. To continue providing uninterrupted care on my own terms, I chose to de-register from the NMC and launch completely independently as Cara's Ear Care.
While my professional title has shifted from NHS Registered Nurse to Independent Specialist, the clinical expertise, safety standards, and quality of care you receive remain exactly the same.
Professional Credentials & Peace of Mind
For your complete reassurance, Cara's Ear Care is fully compliant with all professional standards:
Comprehensive Insurance: Full Medical Malpractice, Professional Indemnity, and Public Liability Insurance.
Data Protection: Fully registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Safety & Trust: Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked.
As GP surgeries rarely offer ear syringing or microsuction anymore, providing this dedicated, stress-free service is now my sole professional focus.
I am incredibly passionate about healthy hearing—life brings enough challenges without the isolation of hearing loss! I look forward to visiting you and helping you feel EAR-mazing.

WHAT IS EAR WAX & WHY DO WE NEED IT?
Earwax, also known as cerumen, is a natural substance produced by glands in the ear canal. It serves several important functions:
1. Protection: Earwax acts as a barrier, trapping dust, debris, and micro-organisms, preventing them from reaching the eardrum. This helps reduce the risk of infections.
2. Lubrication: It keeps the ear canal moist, preventing dryness and irritation. This lubrication helps to maintain the health of the skin in the ear.
3. Cleaning: Earwax has a self-cleaning mechanism. As it naturally moves out of the ear canal, it carries away dead skin cells and other debris, helping to keep the ear clean.
4. Antimicrobial Properties: Earwax contains compounds that can help inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi, providing an additional layer of protection against infections.
While earwax is beneficial, excessive buildup can lead to blockage or discomfort, which may require removal.
